Help Portrait

Yay!!  This week I was able to deliver the help portrait photos to the co-ordinator at The Dam.

What is help portrait you ask?

“Help Portrait is a community of photographers coming together across the world to use their photography skills to give back to their local community.  This is about GIVING the pictures, not taking them. These portraits are not for your portfolio, website, or for sale. Money isn’t involved here. This holiday season, you have the chance to give a family something they may have never had before—a portrait together.”  Check it out at

This year myself along with Jason DiMichele (photographer), Stephanie Moritmer (hair), Robin Blakely (hair) and the awesome staff at The Dam were able to provide a fun environment for the young mom program at The Dam.  For those of you that are interested The Dam is a non-profit organization that gives hope and help to youth and young moms and is located in Mississuaga, ON (Meadowvale area).  You can check them out at  Jason is mainly a fine art photographer and awesome printer who can be found at

We provided a CD with digital images and an 8×10 framed print for the moms.  Can’t wait to do it all again next year.

This is the second time that I have had “photoday”.  Basically I set up in my house and people come over have a mini session that is typically used for their Christmas cards.  The sessions are by donation only with 100% going to the Mississauga Food Bank.  This year, along with some food donations we were able to raise $130 which will provide over 300 meals.  I just want to say thank you to all who came and donated.  I hope to keep expanding this event every year.
